The Museum supports its mission through
exhibits, in-museum and outreach tours with video presentations (the African Experience
Tour), lectures, films, tours to Africa, youth and adult workshops, academic courses,
dance and music performances, visiting scholars and school and community outreach
programs.
The Museum is housed in Historic
Oakland, a Columbia Association owned facility (the second oldest
building in Howard County, MD, built in 1811). The Museum's galleries
occupy 750 square feet. African art exhibited by the Museum include
masks, sculptured figures, textiles, baskets, jewelry, household
items, musical instruments, and goldweights.
